Larry J. "Butch" Parrish is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 158, which includes Candler, Emanuel, and Treutlen counties, along with portions of Bulloch County. Born and raised in Swainsboro, Georgia, he owns Parrish Properties, a real estate holding company, and is married to Carol Parrish with two children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Notable achievements include being named Emanuel County’s Person of the Year in 2020, GPHA Legislator of the Year in 2022, and Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Rural Health Association, Georgia Public Health Association, Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Georgia Hospital Association. He currently serves his 20th term, chairs the Special Committee on Healthcare, and sits on committees including Rules, Economic Development & Tourism, Banks & Banking, Health, Public Health, Human Relations & Aging, and Technology & Infrastructure Innovation, plus the OneGeorgia Authority and Georgia World Congress Center overview committees.

Education and Political Experience

• Graduated from Swainsboro High School and earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia, where he was president of his senior class and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Pharmacy, Pharmacist of the Year from Phi Delta Chi, and Community Service Award from Wyeth Ayerst.
• Served three terms on the Swainsboro City Council, two terms on the Georgia Department of Community Affairs board , as past president of the Swainsboro Exchange Club and Swainsboro/Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce, and on the administrative board of First Methodist Church of Swainsboro.
• Elected to the Georgia House in 1985, with prior recognition as one of Georgia's Five Outstanding Young Men by the Georgia Jaycees and Family Medicine Legislative Champion by the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.
