Biography

Donald "Bud" Cook, born June 29, 1956, is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 50th District, which includes all of Greene County and part of Washington County. A lifelong businessman and team builder from Clover Hill, Pennsylvania, he has focused on economic growth, job creation, lower taxes, gun rights, and fighting the drug epidemic. Notable achievements include spearheading the “Come Home, Go Big and Have a Ball” initiative to attract residents back to southwestern Pennsylvania and leading a multi-year investigation into Local Share Accounts in Washington County. He is a lifetime member of Firearms Owners Against Crime and serves on key committees, including as Republican Secretary of Agriculture & Rural Affairs and Republican Chairman of the Subcommittee on Marketing for the Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development Committee.

Education and Political Experience

Cook earned a B.S. from West Virginia Wesleyan College. His political career began with two terms as a City Councilman in Buckhannon, West Virginia, after which he returned to Pennsylvania to boost the local economy. In 2014, he unsuccessfully ran for the 49th District seat. He won election to the 49th District in 2016 following the incumbent's retirement, securing re-elections in 2018 and 2020. After redistricting, he won the 50th District seat in 2022 and was re-elected in 2024, defeating Democratic challenger Drew Ross Manko.
