Biography
Bryce Berry is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 56. Born on June 16, 2001, in St. Louis, Missouri, he is Georgia's first lawmaker born after 2000 and its youngest representative at age 23 when elected. He defeated Republican incumbent Mesha Mainor in the 2024 general election, securing 83.8% of the vote in a landslide victory. Berry advocates for economic development, education, healthcare, affordable housing, and addressing gun violence. Raised in a union household, he was active in the Black Lives Matter movement following the 2014 Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson. He serves as a seventh-grade math teacher in Atlanta Public Schools and is a member of Antioch North Baptist Church in the English Avenue neighborhood.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Morehouse College with a major in Economics.
- Political Experience: Served as a state youth leader for the Biden-Harris 2020 campaign and Deputy Political Director for the 2022 Georgia Coordinated Campaign, supporting Senator Raphael Warnock and Stacey Abrams. President of the Young Democrats of Georgia since 2022. Elected to the Georgia House in 2024; cast his first vote against the reelection of House Speaker Jon Burns.
