Biography

Bruce Tarr is a Republican state senator from Gloucester, Massachusetts, representing the First Essex and Middlesex District, which encompasses 19 communities including the cities of Gloucester and Newburyport and numerous towns such as Boxford, Essex, Georgetown, Groveland, Hamilton, and Ipswich.

Political Experience

Tarr began his legislative career in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving as the representative for the 5th Essex district from 1991 to 1995. He transitioned to the state senate in 1995, representing the First Essex and Middlesex District, where he has served continuously since that time.
