Biography
Bruce D. Skaug is a Republican representative for Idaho House District 10B, serving the Nampa area in Canyon County since December 1, 2020. A fifth-generation Idahoan born in Pocatello and raised in Jerome, he is an attorney at Skaug Law, involved in a land investment company, and married to Debbie since 1986 with six children and nine grandchildren. Notable achievements include passing over a dozen bills into law as a freshman legislator, chairing the House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee, and serving on the Local Government and State Affairs Committee; he helped earn Nampa recognition as one of the best-run U.S. cities during his 2014-2020 City Council tenure. He has sponsored anti-marijuana legislation like House Joint Resolution 4 and House Bill 7, holds a high Idaho Freedom Foundation score, and is endorsed by the NRA, Fraternal Order of Police, and Idaho Chooses Life.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Associate degree in social sciences from College of Southern Idaho; Bachelor of Science in political science and Juris Doctor from University of Idaho.
- Political Experience: Deputy prosecutor in Ada County; Nampa City Council ; elected to Idaho House in 2020 , won 2024 primary and general elections; currently in third term, running in 2026 Republican primary.
