Biography
Bruce Sassmann is a Republican representative for Missouri House District 61, which includes all of Osage and Gasconade Counties and parts of Miller and Montgomery Counties. Born on August 11, 1950, he is an American politician and businessman who was first elected in November 2020 to the 62nd district and assumed office on January 6, 2021. Following 2022 redistricting, his home was placed in the new 61st district, where he has since run for and won re-election, including in the 2024 general election.
A notable achievement includes passing legislation in 2025 to ban the sale of certain invasive species in Missouri nurseries, such as climbing euonymus, Japanese honeysuckle, lespedeza cuneata, perilla mint, burning bush, and Callery pear.
