Biography
Brittney Miller
Brittney Marie Miller was born in 1974 and is a Democratic member of the Nevada Assembly representing District 5, which covers parts of the western Las Vegas Valley in Clark County. She has lived in her community for over nine years and has deep roots in the area where she has taught students from her own neighborhood.
Miller is a passionate advocate for education, criminal justice reform, veterans' issues, social justice, economic diversification, and accountable government.
Education
Miller holds multiple advanced degrees:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice
- Master's degree in Public Administration
- Master's degree in Teaching
Political Experience
Miller was first elected to the Nevada State Legislature in 2016, when she prevailed in a three-way Democratic primary and won a close general election. She was supported by Our Revolution and endorsed by the Clark County Black Caucus. She is currently serving her third term in the State Assembly.
In addition to her legislative work, Miller brings diverse professional experience. She spent time working in the banking industry and is currently a licensed middle school teacher in the Clark County School District with 11 years of classroom experience.
As an assemblywoman, Miller has sponsored significant legislation, including AB312, which requires the State Board of Education to prescribe class sizes for all grades K-12, and AB423, which enables the Secretary of State to conduct a gender equality survey of businesses in Nevada. She currently serves as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Judiciary.
