Biography
Senator Britnee N. Timberlake ** represents **New Jersey's 34th Legislative District, which includes cities such as Belleville, Bloomfield, Clifton, East Orange, Glen Ridge, Montclair, Nutley, Orange, and others. Elected to the New Jersey Senate in November 2023, she previously served in the General Assembly for District 34 from 2018 to 2024 and as President of the Essex County Board of Freeholders from 2014 to 2018. A resident of East Orange, she currently serves as Chief Community Development Officer at North Jersey Federal Credit Union. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation on foreclosure prevention, student loan forgiveness, anti-sexual harassment measures, business incubator funding, expanded free school meals, Medicaid coverage for birthing doulas, and a resolution for a revenue-neutral carbon tax; she has also supported gun safety laws, equal pay, paid sick days, and park improvements in Watsessing and Orange. Born May 14, 1986, she is married to Newark fireman and small business owner Dimitri Charles, and they have three sons.
