Biography

Bridget Marie Burkhardt is a Democratic representative for Chittenden-8 in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since 2025. Born and raised in rural central Illinois, she resides in South Burlington and serves as Clerk of the House Committee on Ways and Means, as well as a member of the Vermont Higher Education Endowment Trust Fund Council.

Education and Political Experience

  • Earned a BA in Business Economics and Russian Language and Literature from Brown University.
  • Began her career in finance as a financial analyst in the healthcare investment banking group at PaineWebber in New York City, then worked at a small private equity firm focused on healthcare services.
  • Later assisted CEOs and CFOs of portfolio companies with strategic planning, financial management, and budgeting at a fund, while managing compliance and investor relations.
  • Worked in community development investing in London and Chicago.
  • Served three terms on the South Burlington School Board from 2016–2022.
  • Elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 2025, currently in her first term.
