Biography
Christopher "Brice" Wiggins is a Republican state senator representing District 52 in Mississippi, which covers southern Jackson County including the cities of Pascagoula, Gautier, and Ocean Springs. He is an attorney practicing general litigation, family law, corporate law, trucking litigation, and municipal court matters at Taggart, Rimes & Wiggins, PLLC in Pascagoula.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Wiggins graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1989 after attending public schools in Pascagoula.
Political Experience: He served as Assistant District Attorney and Youth Court Prosecutor in Jackson County's 19th Judicial District from 2004 to 2011. Elected to the Mississippi State Senate in 2011, he began serving in 2012 and ran unopposed for re-election in 2015. Notable positions include Chairman of the Senate Ports and Marine Resources Committee as a freshman legislator, Chairman of the first Senate Medicaid Committee under Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Public Health Committee. He also serves on Appropriations, Education, and other committees.
Notable Achievements: Wiggins authored legislation strengthening child abuse laws, enabling DNA collection after arrests for violent felonies, increasing GPS monitoring for sex offenders, and boosting funding for child abuse prosecutions.
