Biography

Senator Brian Strickland is a Republican representing Georgia Senate District 42, which includes Morgan County and portions of Henry, Newton, and Walton counties. He has served in the Georgia State Senate since January 16, 2018, after previously serving in the Georgia House of Representatives starting January 14, 2013. As an attorney practicing at Smith, Welch, Webb & White in McDonough, he chairs the Senate Committee on Judiciary and serves on committees including Appropriations, Banking and Financial Institutions, Ethics, and Health and Human Services; he is also an ex-officio member of Children and Families and Public Safety. Notable achievements include serving as Governor’s Administration Floor Leader for Governors Nathan Deal and Brian Kemp, Chairman of the House Industry and Labor Committee, and commissioner to the Uniform Law Commission since 2015. He was named 2016 Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Solicitor General’s Association, received the 2016 Champions of Cities Award from the Georgia Municipal Association, and selected for Leadership Georgia Class of 2022. He is married to Lindsay Perdue Strickland with two sons, Charles Willis and Beecher, and is active in McDonough Presbyterian Church and formerly president of the Henry County Kiwanis Club. In 2026, he is running for Georgia Attorney General.
