Biography
Brian Nathan is a Democratic State Senator representing Florida Senate District 14, which covers parts of Tampa and northwest Hillsborough County in the Tampa Bay area. A Navy veteran and union leader with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers , he was elected in a special election on March 24, 2026, flipping the seat previously held by Republican Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins in a close race decided by 0.5%. Nathan is married to Tonia, an Orlando native whom he met while serving in the Navy; they settled in Tampa after his 2008 separation from the military during the Great Recession, pursued education, built their lives, and started a family.
