Representative Brian Munroe

Brian Munroe is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 144th District since 2023. Born on January 25, 1974, he is the grandson of Lorne Munroe, the famed former lead cellist of the New York Philharmonic.

Munroe has dedicated his life to public service. At age 17, he became a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard a naval vessel. His experiences in military and law enforcement service motivated him to pursue elected office and give back to his community.

As a cancer survivor, Munroe brings personal understanding to healthcare advocacy. His legislative priorities include protecting reproductive rights and bodily autonomy for women, ensuring access to clean air and water, expanding affordable healthcare services, supporting seniors and veterans, and strengthening law enforcement.

Political Experience

Munroe's path to the state legislature included several significant positions:

  • Warminster Township Supervisor : He was elected to the Township Board of Supervisors, where he focused on open space preservation, green development initiatives, and restructuring the police department to meet community safety needs.

  • Bucks County Clerk of Courts : He served in this elected position prior to his state legislative career.

  • Pennsylvania House Representative, 144th District : In 2022, Munroe successfully challenged Republican incumbent Todd Polinchock, winning by 515 votes. He was re-elected in 2024 with 51.3% of the vote, defeating Republican Dan McPhillips by 1,065 votes. His district includes Warrington, Warminster, Ivyland, and parts of New Britain in Bucks County.

His earlier unsuccessful run for the Pennsylvania House in 2012, when he lost to Republican incumbent Bernie O'Neill in the 29th District, demonstrated his perseverance in pursuing public office.
