Brian Meyer is a Democratic state representative serving Iowa House District 29, which covers parts of southeast Des Moines. He currently serves as House Minority Leader and Ranking Member of the Administration and Rules Committee. An attorney at Harding Law Firm, Meyer has a notable record of public service, including seven years on the Des Moines City Council and seven years in the Iowa Army National Guard, where he graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1996 and Infantry Officer Basic Course in 1997. Before entering the legislature, he worked as chief of staff to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and later House Minority Leader McCarthy , winning a special election to succeed McCarthy in 2013.
