Biography
Brian Manktelow
Brian Manktelow is a Republican politician and farmer from New York who has represented the 130th district of the New York State Assembly since January 2019. Born on July 26, 1963, he resides in Lyons, New York, with his wife, Crystal, and their five children.
Manktelow is a lifelong resident of Wayne County and has been deeply involved in his community through various leadership roles. He owns and operates Manktelow Farms in Lyons, which he has run for more than 30 years, and remains an active member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau.
Education
Manktelow graduated from Williamson High School and later served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of sergeant. He completed classes at the University of Chicago and Finger Lakes Community College, where he pursued a degree in political science.
Political Experience
Local Government:
- Served two years as a Lyons Town Councilman
- Elected Lyons Town Supervisor in 2009, a position he held until 2018
- Served as Vice Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors
- Chaired the Wayne County Board's Finance Committee and served on the Government Operations and Human Services committees
- Was instrumental in establishing the Wayne County Land Bank in 2017 to rejuvenate derelict properties and reduce blight
New York State Assembly:
- Elected to the New York State Assembly on November 6, 2018
- Represents the 130th district, which includes all of Wayne County and the Town of Webster in Monroe County
- Has focused on policies encouraging economic growth, reducing unfunded state mandates, lowering taxes, addressing the opioid epidemic, protecting natural resources, and improving veteran services
