Biography

Brian Lanoue is a Republican politician representing Connecticut's 45th House District, which includes the towns of Griswold, Ledyard, Lisbon, Preston, and Voluntown. First elected in 2018 after defeating Democrat Steve Mikutel, he has served continuously since 2019, with reelections in 2020, 2022, and a fourth term in 2024. A co-owner of a small family-run business and resident of Griswold, Lanoue advocates for tax relief, regulation reform, small businesses, workers, farmers, children, and transportation infrastructure.

Education

Lanoue graduated from Norwich Free Academy, where he hosted and produced at a commercial radio station. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master's degree in public policy from Southern Connecticut State University.

Political Experience

  • Elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2018 following the retirement of incumbent Republican Kevin Skulczyck; term extends to 2027.
  • Sponsored Public Act 21-82, mandating background checks for children's camp employees to protect children from predators.
  • Co-introduced legislation protecting women's and girls' sports by barring biologically male competitors from female divisions.
