Biography

Brian W. Jones, a Republican, represents California's 40th Senate District, which encompasses most of inland San Diego County. Born on August 9, 1968, in Austin, Texas, on a military base, he grew up in the district, attending Santee Elementary, Cajon Park Middle School, and Santana High School. He is married with three adult children and comes from a military family, making him a strong supporter of the Armed Forces and veterans. As the Senate Minority Leader for the California Senate Republican Caucus since 2022 , he is the highest-ranking Republican in California government. His platform emphasizes fixing California by reducing the cost of living, addressing homelessness, tackling crime, restoring educational excellence, lowering taxes, and supporting small businesses.
