Biography
Brian W. Jones, a Republican, represents California's 40th Senate District, which encompasses most of inland San Diego County. Born on August 9, 1968, in Austin, Texas, on a military base, he grew up in the district, attending Santee Elementary, Cajon Park Middle School, and Santana High School. He is married with three adult children and comes from a military family, making him a strong supporter of the Armed Forces and veterans. As the Senate Minority Leader for the California Senate Republican Caucus since 2022 , he is the highest-ranking Republican in California government. His platform emphasizes fixing California by reducing the cost of living, addressing homelessness, tackling crime, restoring educational excellence, lowering taxes, and supporting small businesses.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, his office assisted over 2,500 families with unemployment benefits. He earns top ratings from groups like the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and California Chamber of Commerce for efforts on taxes and regulations.
