Biography

Brian M. Crosby

Brian Michael Crosby is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 29B in St. Mary's County. Born December 5, 1982, in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, Crosby has built a career centered on public service across military, legal, and political spheres.

Crosby grew up in a working-class family and developed a strong commitment to service early in life. After completing his law degree, he joined the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer and Army Ranger, completing three deployments to Afghanistan. During his military service, he earned a bronze star, army commendation medals, a combat infantryman's badge, and an expert infantry badge. He served on active duty from 2011 to 2015 and later continued his service in the Maryland Army National Guard as a captain from 2016 to 2020.

Following his military career, Crosby worked as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton and now serves as a government contractor supporting the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. He is an active mentor in his community, having volunteered as a coach and mentor for a youth running club at George Washington Carver Elementary School. Crosby lives in Great Mills, Maryland, with his wife, Annie.

Education

Crosby earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Drexel University in 2005 and his *Juris Doctor * from Thomas M. Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University in 2008. He is admitted to the bars in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Political Experience

Crosby was first elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018, defeating incumbent Republican Delegate Deb Rey with 53 percent of the vote. He was sworn in on January 9, 2019.

In his current role, Crosby serves as Deputy Majority Leader for the 2026 legislative session. He is a member of the Economic Matters Committee and chairs several subcommittees focused on economic development, banking, and consumer protection. Throughout his tenure, he has been a vocal advocate for education, infrastructure projects, veterans issues, and small business support.

Notable legislative achievements include introducing body-worn camera requirements for Maryland State Police officers in 2021. Crosby also serves on multiple boards and councils, including the Southern States Energy Board, the Maryland Economic Development Commission, the Maryland Rural Council, and the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland. Additionally, he serves as the Southern Maryland Representative and Deputy Director of the Maryland Veterans Council.
