Biography
Brian Alan Chisholm is a Republican politician born November 7, 1970, in Madison, Wisconsin. He has represented District 31 in northern Anne Arundel County in the Maryland House of Delegates since being first elected in 2018 and sworn in on January 9, 2019. Raised in Anne Arundel County in a blue-collar family, Chisholm is married to his wife Kristie and has a son named Ty.
Colleagues in the Maryland General Assembly have given him the nickname "BraveHeart" for his passionate advocacy for freedom and individual liberty and his opposition to overtaxing and over-regulating policies.
Education
Chisholm attended Severna Park High School in Severna Park, Maryland, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Clemson University in 1994.
Political Experience
Chisholm has served continuously on the Government, Labor, and Elections Committee since taking office. He is a founding member of the Maryland State Freedom Caucus since its inception in 2025, where he advocates for lower taxes, limited government, and accountability. He previously served as Assistant Minority Whip in 2021 and has been a member of the Joint Committee on Federal Relations.
Prior to his legislative career, Chisholm worked as a mortgage banker at VAMORTGAGE.com from 2010 to 2014 and subsequently as Senior Mortgage Banker at Capital Bank of Maryland. He also owns a commercial and real estate investment business. Additionally, he served as Vice Chair of the Pension Oversight Commission for Anne Arundel County from 2017 to 2018.
