Biography
Senator Brian M. Chavez represents Ohio's 30th Senate District, encompassing Washington, Athens, Belmont, Meigs, Morgan, Monroe, Noble, Harrison, and Jefferson counties, as well as part of Guernsey County. He was appointed to the Ohio Senate in December 2023, succeeding former Senator Frank Hoagland.
Born and raised in New Mexico, Senator Chavez earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He began his professional career as an engineer at Intel Corporation, where he worked from 1996 to 2008. During his tenure at Intel, he met his wife, Christy, an Industrial Engineer and safety manager at the facility. After 12 years, they decided to relocate to Christy's hometown in Ohio to raise their two sons.
In Ohio, Senator Chavez has been actively involved in the oil and gas industry. He manages and owns Reno Oil & Gas, LLC, which oversees the drilling and field maintenance of over 400 conventional gas and oil wells. Additionally, he owns Chavez Well Service, LLC, and serves as the CEO of Deeprock Disposal Solutions, LLC. His contributions to the industry were recognized in 2017 when he and his wife received the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce Business Leaders of the Year award.

- Appointed to the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission by Governor Mike DeWine in June 2021.
- Served as a trustee and on the executive committee of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association for over a decade.
- Served on the board of the Southeast Ohio Oil and Gas Association for nearly 10 years, including a term as president.
- Former Vice-Chair of the Ohio Oil Natural Energy Institute , active in communications and scholarship committees.
- Appointed to the Ohio Senate in December 2023 to represent the 30th District.
- Elected to a full four-year term in November 2024.
