He is married to Michelle Lynn Adams and has four children.
Education and Early Life
Adams attended College Park Elementary and Middle School before graduating from Stratford High School in South Carolina. He grew up in a family that valued hard work, sacrifice, and community involvement, principles that guided his early career path.
Political Experience and Service
Before his election to the South Carolina Senate in 2020, Adams had an extensive background in public service. He began as a volunteer fireman at Caromi Village Fire Department and worked as a first responder with Berkeley County EMS. He served as a police officer in Goose Creek and retired as a North Charleston police officer in September 2018 after a distinguished law enforcement career.
Since his retirement from law enforcement, Adams has become involved in his family's property appraisal business, which has given him firsthand experience with small business operations and challenges.
Adams assumed office in the South Carolina Senate on November 9, 2020, succeeding Paul Campbell. He serves on multiple committees including Banking and Insurance; Corrections and Penology; Family and Veteran's Services; Fish, Game and Forestry; and Judiciary.

Adams is a vocal supporter of term limits. He has collaborated with fellow Senator Tom Davis on legislation addressing DUI issues in South Carolina. His policy priorities include lower taxes, improved education, liberty, law and order, and conservative family values. In the 2024 presidential election, he initially endorsed Senator Tim Scott before supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after Scott's withdrawal from the race.
