Biography
Brent Money is a Republican Texas State Representative for District 2, which includes Hunt, Hopkins, and Van Zandt counties. A sixth-generation Texan born and raised in Greenville, he is a 47-year-old attorney and business owner who assumed office on January 14, 2025, with his term ending January 12, 2027. Married to his high school sweetheart Heidi for over 24 years, they have five children. He defeated incumbent Jill Dutton in the 2024 Republican primary and won the general election with nearly 80% of the vote, focusing on economic development, education reform, public safety, and conservative values like individual liberties.
Education
Brent Money earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2001 and a law degree from Southern Methodist University in 2006. During law school, he participated in law review, mock trial, moot court, Christian Legal Society, Federalist Society, and legal clinics while tutoring for LSAT and MCAT exams.
Political Experience
Money owns Money Law & Title, with six offices and over 40 employees, specializing in real estate, business, and probate law; it has closed over 1,000 transactions annually. He served seven years as city attorney for Greenville, Quinlan, and other cities, and two terms on the Greenville City Council until 2021. In the Texas House, he serves on the Agriculture & Livestock and Criminal Jurisprudence committees, authoring bills on economic growth, public safety, and education funding as a principled conservative.
