Biography of Representative Brent Cox
Brent Cox is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 28, which encompasses parts of Forsyth and Hall Counties in northeast Georgia.
Brent Cox is a native Georgian who currently resides in Dawsonville with his family. He has been married to Tonya since 1993. Before entering politics, Cox demonstrated a strong commitment to education and youth development through his work as a math teacher at Lambert High School and as a football coach for twelve years at both the high school and middle school levels in Forsyth and Dawson Counties.
Cox brings extensive entrepreneurial experience to his legislative role, having been a business owner for over 31 years and managing various business ventures. His professional background also includes involvement in real estate acquisitions.
Education
Cox attended Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia and earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in 1994.
Political Experience
Cox began serving in the Georgia House of Representatives on January 9, 2023, following a successful Republican runoff election. He was re-elected in the November 5, 2024 general election, with his current term extending until January 11, 2027.
Within the Georgia House, Cox holds several notable positions:
- Deputy Whip , assisting with legislative priorities and member coordination
- Co-chairman of the Georgia Israeli Caucus, a bipartisan group focused on strengthening ties between Georgia and Israel
- Vice chairman of the Education Subcommittee on Policy
