Biography
Representative Brandy Fluker-Reid
Brandy Fluker-Reid is an American Democratic Party politician serving as State Representative for Massachusetts's 12th Suffolk district since 2021. Her district encompasses parts of Milton, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Roslindale, and Boston.
Born and raised in Boston by a single mother, Fluker-Reid developed an early commitment to social justice, organizing her first protest in the third grade. She has built a career dedicated to advocacy, education equity, and progressive causes, working as an organizer and executive director before entering electoral politics.
Education
Fluker-Reid graduated from Boston Latin School before attending Syracuse University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in both social work and public policy. She subsequently earned a Master's in Education from Johns Hopkins University while teaching third grade as a member of the Baltimore Teachers Union. She later attended law school at Emory University and worked as a public defender with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Boston Municipal and Chelsea District Courts.
Political Experience
Fluker-Reid won the Democratic Party's primary election for the 12th Suffolk district on September 1, 2020, and ran unopposed in the general election, replacing seven-term incumbent Dan Cullinane.
Current committee positions include:

- House Committee on Operations, Facilities and Security
- Joint Committee on Cannabis Policy
She also serves on the Women's Caucus executive board and represents the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus. Prior to her legislative service, she was active with the Mattahunt Community Center Advisory Board in partnership with Wheelock College and with Mattapan United.
