Biography
Brandon Voas is a Democratic representative for District 57 in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Elected in November 2022, he serves as Deputy Majority Leader, second vice chair of the House Small Business Committee, and member of the House Corporations and House Education Committees.
A lifelong Cumberland resident, Voas works as Parts Director for Ballard Mack in Johnston, managing operations and building relationships with customers and local repair shops. He is committed to supporting public schools, small businesses, district revitalization, environmental protection, and strengthening democracy.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Cumberland High School . Earned a degree in liberal arts from the Community College of Rhode Island.
Political Experience and Notable Achievements:
- Sponsored five bills enacted into law in 2023, including a $50,000 tangible tax exemption relieving 75% of Rhode Island small businesses and lead hazard mitigation enforcement for pre-1978 rentals.
- In 2024, passed laws banning fees for senior citizens' paper invoices, enabling tax compliance info sharing, and increasing the minimum veterans' tax exemption.
- In 2025, authored a municipal tax amnesty law , advanced a veterans' exemption increase to $6,000, and created an online nomination paper portal.
