Biography
Brandon Marcus Lofton is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 104 in southwestern Mecklenburg County, including parts of Charlotte. First elected in 2018 by defeating incumbent Republican Andy Dulin with 52% of the vote, he was re-elected in 2020 and continues to serve as House Democratic Legislative Chair in the 2025-2026 session. A partner at the law firm Robinson Bradshaw specializing in public finance, Lofton assists local governments, universities, and nonprofits with capital projects like bonds and financings. Notable achievements include sponsoring bipartisan bills for innovation, job growth, public school flexibility, civil rights recognition, childcare affordability, support for families with children who have learning differences, and restoring the child tax credit. He has received the North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer Award and Charlotte Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law as a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar.

Previously chaired the Council for Children's Rights board and served on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Advisory Board. Current roles include Chair of the North Carolina Courts Commission and member of the Southern Regional Education Board Legislative Advisory Council . Elected to the House in 2018, with four terms served as of 2025-2026.
