Biography

Bradford Jerome Blackmon is a Democratic state senator representing District 21 in the Mississippi State Senate. He assumed office on January 2, 2024, succeeding his mother, former Senator Barbara Blackmon, after she stepped aside in the 2023 election; his current term ends January 4, 2028. Son of state Representative Edward Blackmon Jr. and brother to state Representative Lawrence Blackmon, he is an attorney at Blackmon and Blackmon PLLC, of the Baptist faith, and serves on the University of Pennsylvania Football Board and as Co-Chair of Beyond the Basics Inc. Notable positions include membership on the National Task Force on State AI Policy. He introduced the Contraception Begins at Erection Act on January 20, 2025, aiming to address men's roles in contraception.
