Biography
Brad Overcash is a Republican state senator representing District 43 in the North Carolina Senate, serving since January 1, 2023. Born in 1980 or 1981, he resides in Belmont, North Carolina, with his wife Jennifer and their two children, Anna Katherine and Will. A Christian and lifelong conservative, he worships at First United Methodist Church of Belmont and is a partner at the Parker Poe law firm.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Mississippi.
- Political Experience: Elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2022, currently in his second term . Previously served as Vice Chairman of the Gaston County Republican Party, Chairman of the 10th Congressional District GOP, and NC GOP Treasurer. Also chairs the Gaston College Board of Trustees and serves on the Gaston County Family Advisory Board. Serves on the Senate Committee on Finance and Senate Committee on Commerce and Insurance.

- Earned a 100% rating from the National Federation of Independent Business for supporting independent businesses.
- Key legislation: Sponsored the *Taxpayer Transparency Act * to clarify tax assessor requirements during reappraisals; *Regulatory Reform Act of 2023 * and *2024 * to eliminate outdated regulations and promote small business growth.
- Voted for House Bill 259 to accelerate income tax cuts to 3.99% by 2025 and implement universal school choice.
