Biography
Bobby Guerra is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives representing District 41 in South Texas, covering parts of Hidalgo County including the cities of McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, Palmhurst, Palmview, Alton, Lopezville, and Pharr. Born on August 12, 1953, in Edinburg, Texas, he comes from old South Texas ranching families and resides in Mission with his spouse Leslie-Yoder Guerra and three children. Elected in a special election on September 25, 2012, he is currently serving his sixth term . Notable achievements include practicing law for over 38 years, being selected as a Texas Super Lawyer from 2006-2011, serving as managing partner of his firm , and passing landmark legislation on childhood immunizations, patients' rights reforms, border produce transport , broadband expansion , and infrastructure improvements with TxDOT. He previously chaired the Hidalgo County Democratic Party , led the University of Texas-Pan American Alumni Association board , and served as Easter Seals board president .

Education:
Graduated with a B.S. from the University of Texas–Pan American in 1977; earned a J.D. cum laude from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 1985. Admitted to the Texas Bar and U.S. District Courts in 1985. Worked as a television reporter and news anchor at KRGV-TV before law school.
