Biography
Bob Morgan is a Democratic state representative for Illinois House District 58, which includes Chicago North Shore suburbs such as Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glencoe, Highwood, Highland Park, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Northbrook, and North Chicago. Born on May 27, 1980, he serves as Assistant Majority Leader and Floor Whip in the Illinois House. A lawyer and former healthcare attorney for the State of Illinois, he played a key role in implementing the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion, securing coverage for over 650,000 residents, and launching the Illinois Medical Cannabis Program, which has aided over 45,000 patients with conditions like cancer and PTSD. He resides in Deerfield with his wife, Sonya, and two children. Notable achievements include advocating for expanded behavioral and reproductive healthcare access, public school funding without tax increases, pandemic support for local businesses, and protections for immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community. In 2018, a pro bono effort to secure the release of 63 detained individuals inspired his run for office. He won re-election in 2024 with 67.9% of the vote.
