Biography
Representative Bob Martinson
Bob Martinson was born on August 19, 1952, and is an American politician representing the 35th District in the North Dakota House of Representatives. He is a member of the Republican Party and currently resides in Bismarck. Martinson is married to Jodi and has been actively involved in his community through memberships in organizations including the American Legion, AmVets, Elks, Moose, and Eagles.
Education
Martinson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Mary, along with additional credentials in business and science studies.
Political Experience
Martinson's legislative career spans multiple decades. He initially served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1973 to 1997, during which he held the position of Majority Leader from 1993 to 1995. After leaving the legislature, he served as North Dakota Tourism Director from 1997 to 2000. He returned to the House in 2001 and continues to serve representing District 35.
In his current role, Martinson is a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, specifically serving on the Education and Environment Division. His voting record demonstrates strong support for education policies, voting in favor of pro-education and public service measures 96.2% of the time, including supporting K-12 funding initiatives.
Prior to his political career, Martinson worked as an independent landman and served in the North Dakota Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
