Biography

Bob Latta is a Republican U.S. Representative for Ohio's 5th Congressional District, currently serving his 10th term since 2007. Born on April 18, 1956, in Bluffton, Ohio, he is the son of former longtime Representative Del Latta, who held the same district from 1959 to 1989. The district covers areas including Toledo suburbs, Findlay, Bowling Green, Napoleon, Sylvania, Defiance, Van Wert, and part of Toledo. Latta is married with two children and works as an attorney. Notable achievements include having 33 bills and provisions signed into law, such as the INFO Act to combat the opioid crisis and the Drinking Water Protection Act to address algal toxins in Lake Erie's water infrastructure. He serves as a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, focusing on energy, telecommunications, health care, and environment policies, and prioritizes rural broadband, energy independence, national defense, and government reforms.
