Biography
Bob Kressig
Bob Kressig is a Democratic State Representative representing Iowa House District 75 in Black Hawk County. Born on December 31, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, Kressig was raised in Waterloo and currently resides in Cedar Falls. He is married to Liz and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
Before his political career, Kressig spent 31 years working for John Deere, retiring in 2003. During his tenure at John Deere, he served as a Joint Trainer with the UAW for 10 years. His parents owned Verdies Café in Waterloo.
Education
Kressig graduated from Waterloo West High School and attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology. He also received a postsecondary teaching license from the University of Northern Iowa.
Political Experience
Kressig has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since January 2005 and is currently serving his tenth term. He holds several significant positions within the legislature:
- Vice chair of the Commerce Committee
- Vice chair of the Local Government Committee
- Member of the Environmental Protection Committee
- Member of the Public Safety Committee
- Member of the Administration and Regulation Appropriations Subcommittee
Beyond his legislative duties, Kressig is actively involved in his community. He serves as a current board member and former chair of Veridian Credit Union, and is a member of the Statewide Interoperable Communications System Board and the UNI College of Education Advisory Board. He is also a retired member of the UAW and an active participant in local organizations including the Cedar Falls Lions Club and the Sons of AMVETS Post 49.
