Biography
Bob Hasegawa is a Democratic member of the Washington State Senate representing District 11 . A lifelong resident of Seattle's Beacon Hill and the 11th Legislative District, he is a longtime labor and social justice activist who spent 32 years with the Teamsters Union, rising to lead Teamsters Local 174 for nine years and participating in the national Teamsters for a Democratic Union reform movement. Elected to the Washington House of Representatives for District 11 in 2004 , he transitioned to the Senate in 2013. Currently, he serves as *Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus * and holds key committee roles, including Chair of the Joint Administrative Rules Review Committee, and memberships on Rules, Ways & Means, State Government and Elections, Business, Financial Services, Gaming & Trade, Joint Legislative Audit and Review, and the Legislative Committee on Economic Development and International Relations. Notable achievements include advocating for universal single-payer healthcare , cosponsoring SB 6346 in 2026 to establish a "millionaire tax" on incomes over $1 million, and supporting Initiative 1000 to re-legalize affirmative action.
