Bob Godfrey is a Democratic state representative serving Connecticut's 110th District in the General Assembly. Now in his 19th term since 1989, he holds the position of Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore and serves on key committees including Judiciary , Executive and Legislative Nominations , Regulations Review, and Legislative Management.

Notable achievements include sponsoring the 1990s Kids and Guns Act , 1993 Assault Weapons Ban , 1996 constitutional amendment for crime victims' protections, 2000 and 2003 Outstanding Legislator by Connecticut AFL-CIO, 2003 Safe Schools Act, 2003 Distinguished Service Award from Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, 2009 Probate Court Reform, Children's Champion by CT Early Childhood Alliance , 2012 H. Paul White Leadership Award, 2013 Gun Violence and Children’s Safety Act and GMO Labeling Act, 2014 Chronic Disease Care Act and minimum wage increase, 2015 e-cigarette restrictions, and 2018 AARP Capitol Caregiver Award. He leads the Council of State Governments and annually sponsors the YMCA Youth and Government program. He serves on the Board of Directors of APEX Community Care and was active with the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce while managing a family-owned pet shop.
