Biography
Bob Jerry Archuleta is a Democrat representing California's 30th Senate District, which includes portions of southeastern Los Angeles County and Orange County. A U.S. Army combat veteran and former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, he previously served as mayor and councilmember of Pico Rivera, reserve police officer with the Montebello Police Department, and held presidential and gubernatorial appointments focused on military affairs. Notable achievements include being the first Latino Army veteran to chair the Senate Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs, appointment by President Barack Obama as the first Mexican-American co-chair of the West Point Board of Visitors , and appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom to the Governor’s Military Council . He won election to the Senate in 2018 and reelection in 2022 with 61% of the vote.
