Biography
Senator Bo Hatchett
Bo Hatchett is a Republican state senator representing District 50 in the Georgia State Senate, which includes Banks, Franklin, Habersham, Rabun, Stephens, and Towns counties, as well as portions of Hall, Jackson, and White counties. A lifelong resident of Northeast Georgia and native of Habersham County, he was sworn in on January 11, 2021, and currently serves as Governor's Administration Floor Leader for Governor Brian Kemp since 2021. He recently qualified for re-election in the 2026 primaries. Notable positions include Vice Chairman of the Senate Committees on Children and Families and Reapportionment and Redistricting, and member of committees such as Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Ethics, Education and Youth, Health and Human Services, and Judiciary.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Habersham Central High School; earned an undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology; received a law degree from the University of Georgia.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2020; active in legislative efforts, including support for Senate Bill 154 to remove U.S. Department of Education references from Georgia code. He and his wife Ashley reside in Habersham County with their daughter, Hallie.
