Biography
Blake John Miguez is a Republican politician representing Louisiana Senate District 22, which includes parts of Iberia, Lafayette, and St. Martin parishes. He assumed office on January 8, 2024, after winning election on October 14, 2023, with 61% of the vote. Previously, he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015, representing Iberia and Vermilion parishes, following a special election victory. A member of the Louisiana Freedom Caucus, Miguez is an executive in the oil-and-gas industry and a licensed corporate attorney in Louisiana. Notable achievements include a 100% pro-life voting record, introducing bills like HB531 for the Louisiana Industrial Product Certification Act and HB811 prohibiting private funds for election expenses, and a perfect 10/10 score from Citizens for a New Louisiana. He holds committee roles as vice-chair of Senate and Governmental Affairs and Capitol Security Council, and serves on Education, Finance, Judiciary, Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.
