Blaine Watkins

Blaine Watkins is an American politician born on June 26, 2001, currently serving as a State Representative for Iowa House District 100. He is a member of the Republican Party. Before entering politics, Watkins worked as a legislative clerk and is a self-employed farmer from Lee County, Iowa.

Watkins won a special election in 2025 to represent his district, narrowly defeating his opponent with 51.5% of the vote. During his campaign, he received significant financial support from major Republican organizations, including the Republican Party of Iowa, Americans for Prosperity, and The FAMiLY Leader, totaling over $150,000 in contributions.

Education

Watkins graduated from Central Lee High School in 2020 and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Des Moines Area Community College .

Political Experience

Watkins is serving his first term in the Iowa House of Representatives, having been sworn in on March 24, 2025. His tenure is scheduled through January 10, 2027. He serves on several committees including Environmental Protection, Judiciary, and Local Government. He also sits on the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee.
