Biography
William W. Spearman is a New Jersey Assembly member representing the 5th Legislative District, serving since June 30, 2018, alongside Assemblyman Bill Moen. Born February 27, 1958, in Camden, New Jersey, he is a lifelong resident raised by a single parent in the projects, known as a troubleshooter and problem-solver in public service. Notable achievements include prior roles as Camden City Councilman , Director of Real Estate and Economic/Industrial Development for Camden City, Operations Manager for Camden Housing Authority, project manager at Cooper’s Ferry Development Association , compliance and ethics officer for South Jersey Transportation Authority, and board member of Camden County Improvement Authority. In the Assembly, he chairs the Commerce, Economic Development and Agriculture Committee, vice-chairs the Children, Families and Food Security Committee, and serves on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee; he was formerly on the Judiciary Committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden; B.S. in Business Management from Rutgers University; M.B.A. in Real Estate and Urban Land Studies from Temple University.
- Political Experience: Elected to New Jersey General Assembly for District 5 ; former Camden City Councilman; active in community service, including as a steward for Macedonia AME Church.
