Bill Ramos

William George Ramos III was a Democratic politician who served in the Washington State Legislature, representing the 5th Legislative District, which included Issaquah, Renton, Sammamish, Maple Valley, Black Diamond, Snoqualmie, and unincorporated areas in Auburn, Enumclaw, Covington, Fall City, Hobart, North Bend, and Preston.

Ramos was born in East Oakland, California, to a Mexican and Spanish family. His parents were Lupe Arizu, a salon owner, and Bill Ramos. He passed away on April 19, 2025, at age 69 while trail running near his home in Issaquah, Washington.

Political Experience

Ramos began his political career as a member of the Issaquah City Council from 2016 to 2018. He was elected to the Washington State House of Representatives in November 2018, representing the 5th district, and served until January 2025. During his time in the House, he served as chair of the State Government and Tribal Affairs Committee and advanced legislation focused on effective, accountable, and equitable government.

In November 2024, Ramos was elected to the Washington State Senate, defeating Republican Chad Magendanz with 51.9% of the vote. He served in the State Senate from January 2025 until his death in April 2025.

Notable Achievements

Throughout his career, Ramos worked with the U.S. Forest Service and was actively involved in passing legislation to improve infrastructure safety. His legislative work emphasized strengthening government effectiveness and ensuring equitable services for constituents across his district.
