Biography
Bill Herbkersman
William G. "Bill" Herbkersman is a Republican politician from Beaufort County, South Carolina. Born June 30, 1958, in Bedford, Ohio, he is the son of Kate Herbkersman and the late Donald Herbkersman. He has two children, Shelby and Cole.
Herbkersman is an eco-developer and redeveloper who has held leadership positions in multiple business ventures. He serves as Chairman of Syndicated Investments, CEO of Apex Land, and CEO of Marina Front Development. He is also a member of Calhoun Street Properties.
Beyond his political career, Herbkersman is actively involved in his community through memberships in the Ancient Order of Hibernian, Bluffton Rotary, the Beaufort County Republican Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He holds the distinction of Paul Harris Fellow and serves as a Trustee of the Forbeck Cancer Foundation.
Education and Political Experience
Herbkersman attended the University of South Carolina and completed the Jefferson Institute program in 1988.
He has represented South Carolina's 118th District in the House of Representatives since 2002, currently serving his 12th term following his 2024 electoral victory. Within the legislature, he holds significant leadership positions, serving as Chairman of the House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Health and Human Services Subcommittee. He also chairs the Caucus Communications committee.
His legislative work includes membership on the Government Council on Global Warming and involvement with organizations such as Friends of the River and Friends of the Library.
