Biography
Senator Bill Hamilton represents West Virginia Senate District 11, which includes Barbour, Braxton, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Upshur, and Webster counties. Born July 14, 1950, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, he is a retired independent insurance agency owner. He has served in the West Virginia Legislature since 2002, first in the House of Delegates and then in the Senate since 2018. Notable achievements include being named “2001 Agent of the Year” by Independent Insurance Agents of West Virginia and “2005 Citizen of the Year” by the Southern-Upshur Business Association. He has served as a West Virginia DNR Hunter Safety Instructor for over 30 years and held positions such as Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Vice Chair of the Committee on Pensions . He is married to Carolyn Sue Winemiller and has children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Education: Buckhannon-Upshur High School; Potomac State College; Ohio State Fire Academy; Investment Institute of Atlanta.
Political Experience:
- Elected to West Virginia House of Delegates .
- Elected to West Virginia Senate, District 11 .
- Sponsored 11 bills in 2025, including measures on enhancing penalties for fleeing officers, updating sexual extortion crimes, and the Equipment Right to Repair Act.
- Active in community affiliations, including Franklin Lodge #7 AF&AM, Tennerton Lions Club, National Rifle Association , and National Wild Turkey Federation.
