Biography
Bill Boyd III
William "Bill" Boyd III is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives representing Hillsborough County's 21st district, which includes the town of Merrimack.
Boyd was born in 1968 or 1969 and resides in Merrimack, New Hampshire with his family. He is married and has one child. Boyd won a special election in April 2021 to fill the seat vacated by Dick Hinch, who died of COVID-19. In that election, Boyd defeated Democratic nominee Wendy E.N. Thomas with 2,531 votes to 2,144. His campaign received support from former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas.
Education
Boyd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston College.
Political Experience
Boyd has built a substantial career in public service:
- New Hampshire House of Representatives : Currently serving his second term, where he sits on the Public Works and Highways committee and serves as a member of the Hillsborough County Executive Board.
- Merrimack Town Council : Served as Vice-Chair in 2011, 2019, and 2020.
- New Hampshire Drinking Water and Groundwater Advisory Commission: Appointed by Governor Chris Sununu to manage a trust fund offering grants.
- Nashua Regional Planning Commission: Serves as commissioner.
- Merrimack Planning Board: Serves as a town council representative.
Boyd was nominated by NH House Speaker Sherman Packard and selected for the 2022 Emerging Legislative Leaders Program at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, chosen as one of only fifty state legislators from a nationwide pool of nearly 200 nominees.
