Bethany Soye
Republican State Representative, South Dakota House District 9
Bethany Soye is a 32-year-old Republican representing State House District 9 in South Dakota, located west of Sioux Falls and including Hartford and Wall Lake. She was born in Chadron, Nebraska, and currently resides in Sioux Falls with her husband Ryan, whom she met playing hockey, and their two young sons.
Growing up in a rural community, Soye was active in 4-H, where she showed market lambs, and worked at a local farmers cooperative. She is a Christian and maintains strong ties to her community through involvement in youth softball and hockey, serving on her church's praise team, and working as an America Reads tutor and AWANA leader.

Soye holds multiple advanced degrees from the College of William & Mary:

Political Experience
Soye has served as a State Representative for District 9 since 2021 and currently serves on the House Education and Judiciary Committees. She holds the position of Majority Whip in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
Prior to her political career, she worked for five years in Anti-Money Laundering Compliance at MetaBank in Sioux Falls , where she interpreted federal and state regulations for banking operations. She is currently a full-time mom and attorney. Soye is a strong pro-life advocate and emphasizes limited government principles and family-strengthening policies as core to her conservative platform.
