Biography
Representative Beth Quimby
Beth M. Quimby is a Republican representing Caledonia-3 in the Vermont House of Representatives. Appointed in March 2024 by Governor Phil Scott to fill a vacancy, she is a fourth-generation legislator from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, a retired math teacher, and active in local civic roles including Justice of the Peace.
Beth M. Quimby is a lifelong resident of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, raised in Granby and Concord, and living in Lyndon since 1989. A fourth-generation member of her family to serve in the Vermont Legislature, she was appointed by Governor Phil Scott in March 2024 to represent Caledonia-3 after retiring from teaching. She serves as secretary and treasurer of the Lyndon Republican Committee and Caledonia County member of the VT GOP platform committee. Her civic involvement includes roles as Justice of the Peace and on boards of two local historical societies. Notable personal interests include weight training, gravel biking, and four-season hiking. She has also worked as a bank teller for over 25 years.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Concord High School; earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Vermont, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; recently completed a master's in mathematics through the Vermont Mathematics Initiative at UVM.
- Professional Experience: Taught middle school mathematics at Barton Graded School for over 30 years, retiring in June 2023.
- Political Experience: Member of the Vermont House of Representatives since 2024 , appointed to succeed Rep. Charles Wilson; first term ongoing as of 2024 session.
