Biography
Beth Mizell is a Republican State Senator representing District 12 in the Louisiana State Senate, covering parts of St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington parishes. A lifelong Northshore resident born in Bogalusa in January 1952, she is a mother, grandmother, businesswoman, cattle rancher, and active member of First Baptist Church in Franklinton. She served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children for 15 years, lost her husband Bob to cancer in 2012, and has two children and eight grandchildren. Elected in 2015 and eligible through the 2024-2028 term, she was chosen as Senate President Pro Tempore and has chaired the Women's Caucus since 2018. Notable achievements include numerous awards such as Legislator of the Year from Louisiana CASA , Senator of the Year from Louisiana State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police , and multiple Life & Liberty Awards from Louisiana Family Forum.
