Biography

Berny Jacques is a Republican representing Florida House District 59 . Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he moved to Florida in 1994 and resides in Seminole. An attorney specializing in medical malpractice defense and civil litigation, he previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, conducting over 50 jury trials. Elected to the Florida House in 2022 and reelected subsequently, he serves on committees including the Select Committee on Property Taxes , and previously chaired the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee while sitting on Judiciary and Criminal Justice subcommittees . Notable appointments include the Sixth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission , Pinellas County Sheriff’s Civil Service Board , and Florida’s African American History Taskforce .
