Biography

Benton G. Sawrey is a Republican member of the North Carolina Senate representing District 10 since January 1, 2023. Born in 1986 or 1987 in Smithfield, North Carolina, he resides in Clayton with his wife Beth and their two children. A third-generation graduate of North Carolina State University, Sawrey is an attorney at Narron Wenzel, P.A., specializing in regulatory, tax, litigation, and transactional matters for small-business owners, farmers, and families.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University; law degree from the University of South Carolina.
  • Political Experience: Active in Republican politics since 2005, including interning for the North Carolina Republican Party, serving on the Johnston County Republican Party executive committee as general counsel, and working with conservative organizations and candidates. Elected to the NC Senate in 2022 for the newly created District 10; currently in his second term .
