About
Ben Toews is a Republican Idaho State Senator representing District 4 in the Idaho Senate. A native Idahoan raised by a school teacher mother and physical therapist father, he grew up in modest circumstances including apartments and mobile homes in North Idaho. He attended Lake City High School, participated in student government at North Idaho College, and enjoys fly fishing the Coeur d'Alene and St. Joe Rivers. Toews spent 17 years in the family business developing and manufacturing specialty construction tools, rising from vice president to president/CEO; the company won awards for innovation and exporting before selling in 2019. He is a founding member of a homeschool co-op where he taught economics, government, leadership, and coached debate. He serves as Senate Majority Caucus Chair and is in his second term, elected in 2022. Married to Elisha with five children.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Associate of Arts degree in political science from North Idaho College; degree in international business from Gonzaga University.
